Aims & Goals

The aims and objectives of our Mission are:

  • To further the mission activity of the Orthodox Church, as described in Scripture, and that is to:
    • “feed the sheep”
(ie. the Orthodox faithful – John 21:17, Acts 2:42), and
    • “make disciples of all the nations”
(ie. to proclaim the Gospel to all people – Matthew 28:19-20).
  • To provide public services of Orthodox worship in plain English.
  • To provide an expression of Orthodox worship, life and witness which is within the culture of Australia, and consistent with Orthodox Tradition.

The Mission will also be actively involved in assisting members of the Australian community, without discrimination, by providing charity funds and other benevolent services for the underprivileged people in our society. This will be done in accordance with the directive of St Paul the Apostle: “Therefore while we have time, let us do good to everyone, but especially to those who are of the household of the Faith.” (Galatians 6:10)

At the same time, we will be assisting the poor and destitute people and our missionaries in Third World countries such as Kenya.

Other projects include: establishing a spiritual library of Orthodox books and resources; assisting in a soup kitchen program for those in need; and establishing a choir to visit people in nursing homes, hospitals and prisons.
